You may have passed one on the street, today. Or sat next to one in a restaurant. But they are everywhere. Novelists, bloggers, songwriters, a reader who just sent a letter-to-the-editor, or a comedian who just did a standup act the night before. Kansas writers. You'll be meeting a few of them in the months ahead. Most are unknown beyond a few hundred readers. Some would settle for a little more attention. And that is the point here, to get these passionate wordsmiths noticed.
There are two major writer groups in Kansas: the Kansas Writers Assoc. and the Kansas Authors Club, plus at a dozen writers cliques and community-based.groups. And I have no clue how many bloggers live in the state.
I'll be honest. I'll start with writers I know and branch out from there. If you write on a steady basis, no matter what the medium, and you want to get you work out there, Let me know. I'm on FB, or you can email me at wbrummer55@gmail.com. Mention you saw my blog in the subject line, and I will get back to you asap. I'm always looking for content and at this moment the line is short (as in zero).
So come back often. I'll talk about my own work. That's my not-so-hidden agenda, But I want this space to be a gathering place for readers who want to "read local." Sure, I'm all set to jump into the next Jack Reacher thriller, but what are the chances of you emailing Lee Child about his characters and getting an answer? Nada. You can though, with 99 per cent of the Kansas writers I know.
will be a journey. Follow with me the literary equivalent of the Yellow Brick Road.
